Planning a day in Coiba National Park and wondering what it will really cost? Here is the honest breakdown, straight from the local crew that runs the boats: what the tour price includes, which fees are paid separately, what's worth adding — and why booking directly with a licensed local team is the smartest way to do it. One thing to know up front: the park entrance is added to the tour price, and when you write to us we send you the total for your trip.
The short answer
A full-day Coiba snorkeling tour with our team costs $70 per person in a shared group. A private boat starts at $550 for up to 4 people, for 5–6 people it's $600 and for 7–10 people $700 (plus park entry). And in whale season (July–October), whale watching tours run from $700 per boat. Children pay the same tour price but save on the park fee — details below.
What the $70 actually includes
The group tour is a full day, not a quick spin: the boat from Santa Catalina to the park, mask, snorkel, fins and life vest, a local guide who knows every reef, lunch on an island beach and several snorkeling stops. We meet at 8:00 am, leave by 8:30 and return around 3:45–4:00 pm. There are no hidden charges for gear — everything you need to be safe and comfortable in the water is part of the price.
The Coiba park entrance fee
Coiba is a protected national park, and the entrance fee is paid separately, in cash: $20 for foreign visitors and $5 for Panamanians and residents. The good news for families: children 12 and under don't pay the fee at all. Bring the cash with you — the park doesn't take cards, and Santa Catalina has limited ATM access.

Private boats and whale season prices
If you'd rather set your own pace, a private boat starts at $550 for up to 4 people, for 5–6 people it's $600 and for 7–10 people $700 (plus park entry) — same gear, guide and lunch, but the itinerary flexes around you. Between July and October, humpback whales fill these waters and dedicated whale watching tours run $700–$800 per boat depending on size. Whale season weekends sell out, so book those dates early.
Optional extras and money tips
The one extra most guests love: a waterproof GoPro HERO 11 rental for $30/day — we'll set it up with the settings that work best underwater. Beyond that, bring cash for the park fee and small purchases in town, plan your transport to Santa Catalina in advance, and if your dates are flexible, check the best time to visit Coiba to match the conditions you want.
